NEIGHBOURHOODS IN THE LIGHT ◆ TOWN HALLS

Luminous evenings also in the neighbourhoods
Mission: Discover exciting places in Berlin’s neighbourhoods

Idea: Town halls tell stories
Where is the history of a district better placed than on its town hall? At the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS 2021, the facades of three town halls displayed images that are typical for this particular Berlin neighbourhood.

Implementation on the facades of Berlin’s Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Köpenick and Pankow town halls
In line with its location in Berlin, Köpenick Town Hall plays with the themes of water and sport, made possible by the Köpenick Cultural Office and six Köpenick housing co-operatives. The Pankow Town Hall is colourfully floral and has a visual connection to the nearby public park, supported by the Rathaus Center Pankow located directly opposite. The Marzahn-Hellersdorf town hall features a collage with images of the district. The neighbouring residential tower block on Helene-Weigel-Platz tells a visual story about the creation and development of the square over the last 35 years.
