The blue miracle of steel
Mission:
Together with the Festival of Lights, the VBB wanted to bring the revival of the historic Siemens Railway closer to the public in an artistic way as part of the “i2030 – More rail for Berlin & Brandenburg” project. The aim was to raise awareness of the lighthouse project, convey the importance of the rail expansion and bring the vision of a successful transport transition to life.
Idea & implementation:
The centerpiece of the Siemens Railway, an 800-meter-long steel viaduct, was to be artistically staged. The aim was to develop something that would build a bridge between the past and the future. And that symbolizes the pulse of urban life.
The Festival of Lights team found a perfect partner in the creative studio KLING KLANG KLONG to fulfill this task and mission. The “PULS” installation was developed to represent the urban dynamic from morning to night, paying homage to urban mobility. Polyrhythmic sequencing machines synchronized sound and light patterns that reflected the flow of people in the city. Dynamic shades of blue, reminiscent of the historic blue coloration of the steel viaduct, brought the viaduct to life and turned this forgotten part of Siemensstadt into a modern and impressive experience.
Success:
The light and sound installation at the Siemensbahn became the media highlight of the Festival of Lights, which drew lasting attention to the “i2030” project.
The initiative met with a great response in social and local media, bringing the project to the attention of the public. The consistently positive feedback from visitors was also reflected on the Festival of Lights’ high-reach channels.
