The Center at Potsdamer Platz

2025

The idea this year was to create something playful, fitting for the Center am Potsdamer Platz – a place of inspiration, creativity, and urban culture where worlds of culture and community merge. Curator Birgit Zander chose the British artist duo Filthy Luker & Pedro Estrellas for their vibrant, often humorous street art in urban spaces.

For this year’s Festival of Lights, the duo brought their playful art to Berlin with three glowing fantasy figures  Howler, Snapper and Bezerker perfectly suited to the Center am Potsdamer Platz.

Success:

The installations quickly became a crowd magnet. Photos and videos of the glowing sculptures under the Center’s futuristic roof spread rapidly on Instagram, attracting not only festival visitors but also increasing overall foot traffic to the Center am Potsdamer Platz.

2025

A spectacular and crowd-pleasing installation was to be presented at the Center am Potsdamer Platz, formerly the “Sony Center”, during the Festival of Lights 2024, which would put the well-known building in the spotlight and at the same time reflect the vision of the center – a place of inspiration, creativity and urban culture.

Idea & realization:

The idea was to create something monumental. An installation that dominates the space both physically and visually and impresses visitors with its size and symbolic depth. Curator Birgit Zander chose the Australian artist Amanda Parer, with whom the festival team has been working for years. Amanda’s installation “MAN” embodies the human quest for intellectual thought and reflection. And was tailor-made for this location.

The gigantic installation, around 12 meters high and 13 meters wide, was placed at the heart of the center. Its luminous presence completely filled the space. Light intensified the effect.

Success:

The installation quickly became a crowd puller and social media star. Thousands of photos and videos of the illuminated sculpture under the futuristic roof of the center quickly spread on Instagram, which not only attracted festival visitors, but also increased the number of visitors to the Center am Potsdamer Platz.
