To mark its 125th anniversary, the Berlin Chamber of Crafts (Handwerkskammer Berlin) showcased Berlin’s skilled trades as a creative, diverse, and forward-looking part of the capital during the Festival of Lights. The Chamber’s building became a symbolic canvas telling the story of Berlin’s craftsmanship – its history, milestones, and defining personalities.
The light projection visualized the sector’s innovation, diversity, and sustainability, making 125 years of craftsmanship come vividly to life. Dynamic visuals, colorful animations, and artistic imagery portrayed the crafts as a shaping force of the city – a B2B-oriented statement for partnership, innovation, and tradition.
The installation attracted numerous visitors and gained significant media attention. Mission:
The Berlin Chamber of Skilled Crafts wanted to present Berlin’s skilled crafts as a creative, versatile and indispensable part of the city. The importance of the trades for society and their role in shaping Berlin should be emphasized and a broad audience reached.
Idea & Implementation:
The idea was to transform the building of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts into a symbolic canvas expressing the diversity and importance of the skilled craft sector. The projection symbolically showed how craft enriches and shapes the city and society in innovative and sustainable ways. Vibrant colors, dynamic imagery, and artistic representations were used to visualize the importance of craftsmanship – a creative interplay that highlighted both the diversity of trades and craftsmanship as a formative force in the city.
