EUROPE IN LIGHT
Idea: Focus on the European Elections 2019
7 Federal Ministries and 2 major EU institutions jointly participated in the Festival of Lights 2018. Under the title “Europe in Light,” they drew attention to the upcoming European Parliament elections in 2019.
No dry information, but great emotion! The Festival of Lights team impressively illuminated the buildings with artistic large-scale projections. The public came, saw, and experienced why we simply must love Europe.
Implementation: Europe is for Lovers
Each building had an individual staging that addressed the tasks and competencies of the respective ministry. All scenes highlighted the strength and diversity of the European community. For example, the Ministry of Defense presented the Bundeswehr with a light story under the motto “I protect what you don’t see.” Or the Ministry of Finance illustrated “50 years of the European Customs Union.”
The cohesion of the large joint action “Europe in Light” was documented through shared announcements and reports under the hashtag #EuropeIsForLovers. On-site, a shuttle bus allowed visitors to visit all locations.
Result: High reach for Europe
The participating federal ministries and EU institutions drew attention to the European elections in an emotional and innovative way, offering Festival visitors entirely new perspectives on Europe. The messages of the light installations found a particularly positive response in social media.
