70 years of Israel in a special light
Idea: Staging the anniversary as a spotlight
Israel has been a close partner of the Festival of Lights since 2015 and presents itself as a tourist destination. In 2018, Israel celebrated its 70th Independence Day as a special highlight of our festival. Under the motto “70 Years of Israel”, the country presented itself with a beautiful 3D video mapping on the armory of the German Historical Museum.
Implementation: A journey through history
The 3D video mapping took the Berlin audience on a remarkable journey through 70 years of Israeli art, culture and architecture. Suddenly, the beauty of the country was right in front of everyone’s eyes.
As an additional accent, the current Israel tourism spot was shown around the clock on an LED screen amidst the flow of visitors on Unter den Linden.
Visitors could win a trip to Israel in the integrated social media competition. Anyone who wanted to take part could take a selfie with the anniversary projection in the background and upload it using the hashtag #IsraelOfLights. There was great interest and numerous direct contacts were made with potential vacationers.
Success: Great attention for Israel
In 2015, the Festival of Lights was awarded the Medal of Honor of the State of Israel for its high-profile presentation of Israel. In 2018, an impressive video mapping again succeeded in attracting the millions of viewers to the anniversary and presenting Israel as an appealing tourist destination.
