#WeAreZebras – A Statement for Rare Diseases

Under the motto #WeAreZebras and #YouAreNotAlone, SEBRACON brought together affected individuals, their families, doctors, as well as experts from research, industry, politics, and media on October 11, 2025. The goal: to raise awareness of rare diseases, inspire courage, provide information, and motivate action.

The Festival of Lights was commissioned to give the public launch of SEBRACON – the first major convention for people with rare diseases in Germany – a spectacular visual highlight through breathtaking light art. The aim was to create visibility, dialogue, and societal attention for this important cause.

Idea & Implementation:

At the close of this special day, the Festival of Lights transformed the Brandenburg Gate into a glowing zebra – the international symbol for rare diseases. In line with the motto “Let’s Shine Together,” the projection sent a powerful message of solidarity, visibility, and hope – for everyone living with a rare condition.

Success:

An emotional highlight that created visibility, offered hope, and connected people beyond Berlin. The installation made an unmistakable statement for those often overlooked in everyday life and reached a global audience – both online and on-site.
