20 Years Potsdamer Platz ◆ presented by Potsdamer Platz

Idea: A magnificent panorama

Potsdamer Platz has decided to celebrate its 20th anniversary as part of the Festival of Lights 2018. For this special occasion, there was an impressive premiere: A panorama staging - tuned to the forward-looking character of the metropolis square - made the entire square shine and made it an imposing work of art.

Implementation: A stage for the best in the world

The Kollhoff Tower in the middle of Potsdamer Platz formed the centerpiece of the panorama. On its mighty facade, the finale of the "World Championship of Projection Mapping" was held. Under the motto "Architecture in a New Dimension", the best 3D mapping stories in the world were on display, which a jury had selected in advance from hundreds of designs by international artists. The visitors voted online for their favorite and the World Cup remained exciting until the last minute.

The championship was framed by further high-class large screen projections on the Forum Tower with artistic collages, the BahnTower with abstract graphics, the Ritz-Carlton with a new interior design and the P5 with the mighty Tiger portrait of the renowned street artist Otto Schade. The Canadian Embassy also joined the panorama with the huge projection of a maple leaf.

The various light art productions illuminated diverse facets of modern art and combined to create a harmonious 180-degree panorama.

Success: Worldwide eye-catcher

Every evening the crowds came to Potsdamer Platz to marvel at the unique art experience. The image stagings of the panorama became for both viewers and the media coveted photo motives that went around the world.
